Day 01: Arrival in Paro. Overnight: Paro
Welcome to Bhutan! Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. The beautiful valley of Paro is surrounded by forested hills, traditional farmhouses, and historic monasteries. Depending on arrival time, enjoy a gentle introduction to Bhutan by visiting local temples or exploring the charming Paro town.
Day 02: Paro to Thimphu Altitude: 2350 m / 7710 ft – 54 km, approx. 2 hours
After breakfast, begin a scenic drive to Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu. The route follows the winding Paro and Thimphu rivers, passing traditional villages and lush landscapes. Upon arrival, visit some of the city’s important cultural sites including the giant Buddha statue overlooking the valley and the impressive fortress monastery that serves as the administrative and religious center of Bhutan. In the evening, explore Thimphu’s lively streets, handicraft shops, and local markets. Overnight: Thimphu
Day 03: Explore Thimphu Overnight: Thimphu
Today is dedicated to discovering the cultural treasures of Thimphu. Visit museums, traditional craft centers, and monasteries that showcase Bhutan’s rich heritage. Highlights include the towering Buddha Dordenma statue, the National Memorial Chorten, and the impressive Tashichho Dzong, a beautiful fortress that houses government offices and monastic institutions. The afternoon can be spent exploring Thimphu’s markets, where visitors can browse handmade textiles, paintings, and traditional Bhutanese crafts.
Day 04: Thimphu to Punakha Altitude: 1250 m / 4000 ft – 76 km, approx. 3 hours
After breakfast, travel toward Punakha valley via the scenic mountain pass of Dochula Pass. Located at over 3,100 meters, the pass is famous for its 108 memorial stupas and spectacular views of the eastern Himalayas. Descending into the warmer valley of Punakha, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful and historically significant monasteries. Situated at the meeting point of two rivers, the dzong is known for its impressive architecture and serene surroundings. Overnight: Punakha
Day 05: Punakha – Gangtey Valley – Punakha Altitude: 2900 m / 9280 ft. Overnight: Punakha
Today enjoy a scenic excursion to the peaceful highland region of Phobjikha Valley, home to the famous Gangtey Monastery and a winter habitat of the rare black-necked cranes. Visit the historic Gangtey Monastery and explore the breathtaking valley surrounded by forested mountains and traditional villages. The valley is one of Bhutan’s most beautiful and tranquil landscapes. After exploring the region, return to Punakha for the evening.
Day 06: Punakha to Paro 130 km / approx. 4 hours. Overnight: Paro
After breakfast, drive back to Paro valley through scenic mountain landscapes and traditional Bhutanese settlements. Upon arrival, visit some of the valley’s cultural highlights including the historic Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum of Bhutan. Later, explore the charming Paro town and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this beautiful Himalayan valley.
Day 07: Departure from Paro
After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward flight. As your Bhutan journey comes to an end, depart with unforgettable memories of peaceful monasteries, breathtaking valleys, and Bhutan’s unique cultural heritage.
